First Thoughts: oh man oh man oh man. The ending. Holy crap! 3.5 stars
Plot, Pacing and Style: This books picks up where book 1 left off….but I had been so vested in the story with Gravity… and I just did not get that with this installment. It took about 50% for me to get into this story. I’m not sure why, but all I know is I wish I had read them back to back. Ari is now on Loge, and she must get back to Earth after she kills Zeus to save humans and ancients.
The pacing was ok, better for the second half of the book than the first. I flew through the pages once it picked up.
The story was told from Ari’s POV, and it was great to be in her head as she worked through her feelings for Jackson. I wouldn’t have minded a peek in Jackson’s head, but now I’m being greedy.
The MCs: It took about half of the novel before I felt a connection to either of them. I guess there had been so much trust ruined that it was hard to reestablish it again. I loved them both though, and I love them together. They are strong, brave, selfless and loyal. I never got the “she is making foolish impulsive decisions” feeling, which is huge for me.
Romance /Chemistry: Again, it took over half the novel for me to feel ANYTHING. But all I have to say is————-> outdoor shower.
Title/Cover: The title is fine, but I don’t have that “ahhh, defining moment” feel to go with it. The cover is pretty, but unless you know the story I can’t imagine it drawing you in.
Twists and Turns: EVERYWHERE. I trust no one. NO ONE.
Ending: Holy. Cliff. Hanger.
Gripes/suggestions: I don’t know, the mojo was just gone for me. It’s hard to pin point exactly why this wasn’t a homerun….maybe second book syndrome?
Final Thoughts/Rec It? Yes, absolutely, but only if you read book 1 immediately before this one.
